News

We shot the news in HD again with the canon rebel t2i and everything went smoothly. We still don't know why the audio sounds bad when it's aired but maybe it will be fixed this time around. Hopefully once we perfect the setup of this show, we can move to a two-anchor format.

Week of Oct 14

On Sunday, October 14, I shot b-roll for Midnight Madness and edited it the next day.  I learned that it was extremely difficult to get good shots in darkness, especially when there are flashing lights everywhere. The camera had to be operated completely manually because the auto-exposure would not adjust well to the lights.

Shooting and Editing: 2.5 hours

On Monday, we did the news and created our first HD show! It looked much more professional and the green screen added a nice touch.

On Tuesday and Wednesday I helped Katie edit her golf package and watched Austen edit the news show. It helped to observe After Effects since I had never seen it before, but Austen hadn't really used it either so it didn't help to have both of us together. I hope to learn more about it in the future and eventually learn to make some kind of graphic intro for it.

Monday Meetings and Tuesday Editing

On Monday, we shot the news show and didn't run into any issues with the audio! We saw Dr. Allen's version that was shot on the T2i against the blue screen and I think that after fall break, we should work on moving to use those cameras to get the news in HD.

Yesterday, (Tuesday), I helped Katie edit the road direction change package. We worked on correcting the audio levels and deciding which b-roll to use. We ran into a few technical issues and had trouble correcting the unsteadiness of the shots but overall, it turned out well.
